Open Hack Report: August 2nd

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Open Hack yesterday! A bunch of new faces as well as some returning folks. We had a good stream of people throughout the afternoon into the evening.

Lots of projects were in progress this month. The new air conditioners kept things cool, despite people's hot projects (in all senses of the word-- Steve's blowtorch work definitely brought some excitement.)

Work on the throwie project for Geeks and Toys (http://thehacktory.org/blogs/farmckon/geeks-and-toys-at-national-mechani...) was in full swing, with a complete research and development organization and full-fledged assembly line. Throughtout the day, we pioneered some new throwie building and packing strategies, including the new grenade pin activation. We should be in great shape for the event. I expect to see you all there; be sure and say hello.
Although we had some infrastructure difficulties, we're really seeing good utilization of our equipment. The soldering station was in full use for most of the afternoon, and we packed the main room with lots of tools, projects and chaos-- exactly what I was looking for on a Saturday afternoon.

Looking forward to seeing you all next month.

Steven F:

Thanks, I had a blast. The chaos and variety are exactly what I was expecting and looking for as well
