So, you know how to fix a computer? Volunteer this Saturday.

Here are the top ten reasons to volunteer at NTR's Bring a Computer Ask a Question program this Saturday:

10. You get to show off your computer skills to a captive and appreciative audience.
9. You help people in Philadelphia cross to the other side of the digital divide. Our side!
8. You will learn a trick of two from Stan and his crew of seasoned troubleshooters.
7. You will likely get a hug once you fix someone's problem.
6. "Ghosting" hard drives is cool.
5. You will get more adrenaline than playing by yourself on your PS3.
4. That disquieting feeling that you did something wrong when the computer you have been working on won't start up any more.
3. Realizing that you just put the cover on the wrong way. Nothing serious.
2. You will get a tour of NTR, and maybe even Stan's secret stash.

And the top reason to volunteer at NTR this Saturday:
1. Come by on Saturday and you'll find out.

Time: 1:30-5PM at NTR, 1524 Brandywine Street. Sign up below so we know you are coming.

And, here is the full description of the program:

The "Bring A Computer, Ask a Question" (BACAAQ) program offers computer trouble-shooting workshops to the mostly low-income community served by NTR in the Philadelphia area. Participants bring their own personal computer systems and accessories to obtain assistance with questions relating to both hardware and software on Windows and Macintosh systems.

West Philly Tool Library Open House

The West Philly Tool Library has been "unofficially" open every Saturday morning from 9-12 since last September. But now that Spring is around the bend, they're having a Grand Opening. So come say hello and enjoy food and fun at their open house on Saturday, March 15, from 12 noon to 5:00pm. You might be able to play with some power tools as well; such as the spanking new table saw they just got.

The West Philly Tool Library, located at 4620 Woodland Avenue , is a nonprofit organization sponsored by the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs Coalition. Members can join for $20 per year and can borrow as many tools as they need to fix up their houses, tend their yards and gardens, maintain their blocks, or build new projects. There are no other fees or costs to members.

They currently lend over 350 tools, including circular saws, cordless drills, hoes, rakes, shovels, extension ladders, pruners, painting supplies and much more.
