The amazing folks at http://www.neighborhoodbikeworks.org/ are putting on a art, craft, music, beer, snacks, raffle, silent auction benefit for a suggested donation of $5 Friday September 17th at the same http://www.studio34yoga.com/, where the Hacktory sponsored http://8static.com/ takes place every month.

I am daydreaming of the fantastic kinetic sculpture class that Brad Litwin, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKrNJdJj7uE&feature=channel_page) taught at the Hacktory last summer.

Recycled Electronics Jewelry Workshop - This Saturday 1-5pm!

Electronic Jewelry you can make!

This Saturday Aug 22 The Hacktory is offering a fun and unique Recycled Electronics Jewelry workshop from 1:00-5:00pm.

Artist and instructor Ann Warner of Lancaster says:

"In an ongoing effort by The Hacktory to find new ways to combine art with technology, we created the Recycled Electronic Jewelry Workshop. We'll teach basic jewelry-making skills to people of all age levels (10 yrs and up), including design ideas, basic soldering and assembly techniques, and a rich variety materials to create your own jewelry and small sculpture.

"We'll recycle old electronic parts carefully harvested by members of The Hacktory and provided by a generous Lancaster donor.

"This workshop will add beauty and interest to the world by reclaiming and recycling things that would normally end up in our overflowing landfills. It will also be tons of fun and spark creativity for all attendees."

The cost to participate in this workshop is only $20, which includes all materials including a large selection of awesome-looking retro electronic components for building your own jewelry.

Pictured above are examples of recycled electronic jewelry created by instructor Ann Warner.

Open Hack Report: August 8th, 2009

pinball line-up

With a fresh rearrangement of the space by Bernie and Jonathan, the August Open Hack sported a bunch of new people and some interesting new projects. The summer clearly hasn't slowed down too many of The Hacktory regulars, with most coming in with great advances from previous months: Kris notably has made some massive improvements in getting 3d models to the Fab@Home machine, we're looking forward to what he has for us in the future. Lots of Arduino discussions, with our resident expert Wil coming by to weigh in on good ways to get video out to NTSC sources.

Open Hack this Saturday

It's that time again. Time for our monthly Open Hack; our open house where people show off what they've been working on and make progress on awesome new things.
Come by on a lazy August Saturday and kick back with some cool people.
